How to get here

There is a taxi desk in the airport (as you exit Customs) where you can book a shared door-to-door shuttle van. Give the address and pay. Our address is 109 Calle de los Libres. You will be asked if you are going to Zone 1 or 2. We will be going to Zone 1.

If you'd rather ride alone in a taxi, you'll book at this same stand. The prices in the photo are likely out of date, but they're close.

Our itinerary

We have a full schedule planned to enjoy every part of Oaxaca and boost our creativity. Keep in mind, the itinerary might change based on the weather and the availability of our collaborators.

What to bring

We’ll be painting in our private home studio, out in the streets of Oaxaca, and in the countryside. The supplies list might look long, but most items are compact and easy to carry. If you have any questions, just send me an email.

Extra tips

  • We recommend using a debit card to withdraw cash in Oaxaca instead of bringing USD to exchange for pesos. Make sure to let your bank know about your travel plans to avoid any card issues.

    Plan your budget to cover drinks, extra meals, activities during free time, and any souvenirs you'd like to buy.

  • My assistant set up a group WhatsApp chat to keep everyone updated throughout the retreat. If you don’t have WhatsApp yet, you can download it here.

  • Mexico uses 110-220 volt electricity (same as the U.S.) so there is no need for a power converter.

  • Oaxaca City’s elevation is 5,102 ft (1,555 meters). This means the climate is very moderate despite its proximity to the equator, with the defining seasonal change being the rainy and dry seasons. In January you can expect warm, sunny days and slightly chilly evenings.

  • In addition to packing your art supplies, be sure to bring comfortable clothing and shoes. I also recommend the following:

    • Sunscreen and sun hat

    • Headphones or ear buds

    • Any medications you may need
